DESCRIPTION:The Hike this Week \n\n\n\nHotz/Europe Bay Trail3.2 milesMeet at Europe Bay Road parking area at 9:00am \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAs part of the Wisconsin DNR OutWiGo initiative to get outside and participate in healthy activities\, Newport naturalists are leading a 13-week progressive hiking challenge covering every trail in the park.   \n\n\n\nHikes will take place on Tuesday at 9:00am. We begin on June 9 with one of the shortest trails and end with the longest trail loop (7-ish miles) on September 1. Please join us when you can. On the final hike (Sept 1)\, miles will be tallied and participants will enjoy a pot-luck picnic.  \n\n\n\nThese are not interpretive hikes; the purpose is to get out and enjoy some physical activity. Everyone is encouraged to hike at a pace that is comfortable for them. Hikes will be held as scheduled\, except for extreme weather conditions. DESCRIPTION:Dave LaLuzerne was born with a green spark in his heart. (Interestingly\, his last name is the French word for alfalfa.) Nurtured through pharmacy school and many years as an herbal pharmacist in his own herb shop\, he now finds his passion is educating people about the numerous and wondrous ways to use herbs for our health and well-being.  \n\n\n\nDoor County has a wealth of herbs that can be beneficial to your health and well-being. This walk will explore the herbs in our local environment. Learn how the plants that flourish in this climate can help you flourish as well.  \n\n\n\nMeet outside the park office\, Lot 1. \n\n\n\nJuniper Field\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAll programs are free\, but a state park admission sticker is required on all vehicles. SUMMARY:OutWiGo 'Trails of Newport' Hiking Challenge: Week 12
DESCRIPTION:The Hike this Week \n\n\n\nNewport Trail5.0 milesMeet at Lot 2 at 9:00am \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAs part of the Wisconsin DNR OutWiGo initiative to get outside and participate in healthy activities\, Newport naturalists are leading a 13-week progressive hiking challenge covering every trail in the park.   \n\n\n\nHikes will take place on Tuesday at 9:00am. We begin on June 9 with one of the shortest trails and end with the longest trail loop (7-ish miles) on September 1. Please join us when you can. On the final hike (Sept 1)\, miles will be tallied and participants will enjoy a pot-luck picnic.  \n\n\n\nThese are not interpretive hikes; the purpose is to get out and enjoy some physical activity. Everyone is encouraged to hike at a pace that is comfortable for them. Hikes will be held as scheduled\, except for extreme weather conditions. (We hike in the rain!)  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAll programs are free\, but a state park admission sticker is required on all vehicles. DESCRIPTION:Summer fun at Newport leads to long-lasting and harmful souvenirs on the beach. Preserve Lake Michigan’s pristine shores while participating in citizen science! Collected trash will be entered into the Alliance for the Great Lake’s database on litter and plastic pollution through their Adopt-A-Beach program.  \n\n\n\nMeet at the parking area at the end of Europe Bay Road. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAll programs are free\, but a state park admission sticker is required on all vehicles.
