SUMMARY:Float Your Boat
DESCRIPTION:This is a drop-in interpretive program. \n\n\n\nCan you build a boat that will float and hold the most mass? Come get together with us to see if you can design a cargo boat that will hold the most cargo. Understand how the “Laker” ships transport their loads of iron ore through the shipping lanes of Door County. \n\n\n\nLook for the table set up in the picnic area (Lot 3). \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAll programs are free\, but a state park admission sticker is required on all vehicles. Some programs are weather related\, so check with the park if you have any questions. \n\n\n\nNewport State Park\, 475 County Road NP\, Ellison Bay\, WI 54210 Ph. 920-854-2500

SUMMARY:Let’s Clean Up Newport Bay Beach!
DESCRIPTION:Summer fun at Newport leads to long-lasting and harmful souvenirs on the beach. Preserve Lake Michigan’s pristine shores while participating in citizen science! Collected trash will be entered into the Alliance for the Great Lake’s database on litter and plastic pollution through their Adopt-A-Beach program. \n\n\n\nMeet at the picnic area\, Lot 3. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAll programs are free\, but a state park admission sticker is required on all vehicles. SUMMARY:Great Wisconsin Bat Count
DESCRIPTION:Help our state bats by participating in this Citizen Science program. \n\n\n\nOur hibernating bats are in great danger of being wiped out because of white-nose syndrome (WNS)\, a white\, powdery fungus on the muzzle of infected bats that causes die offs of multiple species of bats in infected hibernation sites. This state wide survey is an important tool to help monitor the number of bats that have been affected by WNS. \n\n\n\nNo experience is necessary\, just a willingness to help. We will meet at the Nature Center\, Lot 1\, for brief instruction.  \n\n\n\nRAINDATE: Saturday\, JULY 11th. \n\n\n\nLittle Brown Bat; © USFWS/Ann Froschauer\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAll programs are free\, but a state park admission sticker is required on all vehicles. SUMMARY:Bat Count: Wisconsin Bat Monitoring Program
DESCRIPTION:Help our state bats by participating in this Citizen Science program. \n\n\n\nOur hibernating bats are in great danger of being wiped out because of white-nose syndrome (WNS)\, a white\, powdery fungus on the muzzle of infected bats that causes die-offs of multiple species of bats in infected hibernation sites. This state wide survey is an important tool to help monitor the number of bats that have been affected by WNS. \n\n\n\nNo experience is necessary\, just a willingness to help. We will meet at the Nature Center\, Lot 1\, for brief instruction. \n\n\n\nRain Date: July 18\, 8:00pm \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCovid-19 Guidelines: Group sizes vary and may be limited to promote social distancing. Participants are encouraged to practice social distancing\, frequent hand washing and to wear a face covering if social distancing cannot be maintained. All programs will be outdoors. If you are feeling ill or experiencing symptoms of Covid-19\, we ask that you refrain from participating in this program.
