SUMMARY:Star Gazing at the Dark Sky Park
DESCRIPTION:Due to poor viewing conditions expected for both nights (clouds\, humidity haze\, smoke)\, this event has been cancelled.  \n\n\n\n**IMPORTANT: This event will be held on August 4 OR August 5\, depending on weather/viewing conditions.** \n\n\n\nJoin us at Wisconsin’s only designated dark sky park for a night of star gazing. There will be a telescope and other equipment set up with some of Door County’s best amateur astronomers on hand to point out some highlights of the night sky.  \n\n\n\nYou are welcome to bring your own telescope and/or binoculars. Flashlights/headlamps with red lens covers are recommended. Although volunteers will be on hand to assist you\, it is always a good idea to come during day time hours to familiarize yourself with the area first. There is no seating available\, so bring your own chairs and/or blankets. \n\n\n\nPark at Lot 3 and follow the marked path. \n\n\n\nAs conditions are unpredictable\, the date for this program will be decided as weather conditions are assessed. Check with the park office or the NWS Facebook page for updates. DESCRIPTION:The Hike this Week \n\n\n\nEurope Bay Trail6.8 milesMeet at Lot 3 at 9:00am \n\n\n\nPotluck picnic to follow!! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAs part of the Wisconsin DNR OutWiGo initiative to get outside and participate in healthy activities\, Newport SP Naturalist Beth Bartoli is leading a 13-week progressive hiking challenge covering every trail in the park.   \n\n\n\nHikes will take place on Tuesday at 9:00am. We begin on June 11 with one of the shortest trails and end with the longest trail loop (7-ish miles) on September 3. Please join us when you can.  \n\n\n\nThis is the final hike of the challenge!! We will be tallying our miles and enjoying a pot luck picnic together after the hike. The park will provide the main course and beverages. Bring a side dish or desert to pass. \n\n\n\nThese are not interpretive hikes; the purpose is to get out and enjoy some physical activity. Everyone is encouraged to hike at a pace that is comfortable for them. Hikes will be held as scheduled\, except for extreme weather conditions. SUMMARY:Star Gazing at the Dark Sky Park
DESCRIPTION:**IMPORTANT: This event will be held on Sept 4 OR Sept 5\, depending on weather/viewing conditions.** \n\n\n\nJoin us at Wisconsin’s only designated dark sky park for a night of star gazing. There will be a telescope and other equipment set up with some of Door County’s best amateur astronomers on hand to point out some highlights of the night sky.  \n\n\n\nYou are welcome to bring your own telescope and/or binoculars. Flashlights/headlamps with red lens covers are recommended. Although volunteers will be on hand to assist you\, it is always a good idea to come during day time hours to familiarize yourself with the area first. There is no seating available\, so bring your own chairs and/or blankets. \n\n\n\nPark at Lot 3 and follow the marked path. \n\n\n\nAs conditions are unpredictable\, the date for this program will be decided as weather conditions are assessed. Check with the park office or the NWS Facebook page for updates.
