SUMMARY:Great Wisconsin Bat Count
DESCRIPTION:Help our state bats by participating in this Citizen Science program. \n\n\n\nOur hibernating bats are in great danger of being wiped out because of white-nose syndrome (WNS)\, a white\, powdery fungus on the muzzle of infected bats that causes die offs of multiple species of bats in infected hibernation sites. This state wide survey is an important tool to help monitor the number of bats that have been affected by WNS. \n\n\n\nNo experience is necessary\, just a willingness to help. We will meet at the Nature Center\, Lot 1\, for brief instruction.  \n\n\n\nRAINDATE: SATURDAY\, JUNE 3rd. \n\n\n\nLittle Brown Bat; © USFWS/Ann Froschauer\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAll programs are free\, but a state park admission sticker is required on all vehicles. SUMMARY:Stargazing at the Dark Sky Park: Constellations
DESCRIPTION:**IMPORTANT: This event will be held on June 16 OR June 17 OR June 18\, depending on weather conditions.** \n\n\n\nJoin us at Wisconsin’s only designated dark sky park for a night of star gazing. We will start with a brief talk about some of the summer constellations\, then move on to some deep sky viewing of stars and globular clusters (if conditions allow). \n\n\n\nLocal astronomy enthusiasts will be on hand with telescopes and other equipment. Flashlights/headlamps with red lens covers are recommended. Although volunteers will be on hand to assist you\, it is always a good idea to come during day time hours to familiarize yourself with the area first. There is no seating available\, so bring your own. \n\n\n\nPark at Lot 3 and follow the marked path. \n\n\n\nAs conditions are unpredictable\, the date for this program will be decided as weather conditions are assessed. Check with the park office or the NWS Facebook page for updates. This program will be cancelled if viewing conditions are poor. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAll programs are free\, but a state park admission sticker is required on all vehicles. Some programs are weather related\, so check with the park if you have any questions. \n\n\n\nNewport State Park\, 475 County Road NP\, Ellison Bay\, WI 54210 Ph. 920-854-2500

SUMMARY:Wisconsin State-wide Bat Count
DESCRIPTION:Help our state bats by participating in this Citizen Science program. \n\n\n\nOur hibernating bats are in great danger of being wiped out because of white-nose syndrome (WNS)\, a white\, powdery fungus on the muzzle of infected bats that causes die offs of multiple species of bats in infected hibernation sites. This state-wide survey is an important tool to help monitor the number of bats that have been affected by WNS. We will count at several sites in Newport. \n\n\n\nNo experience is necessary\, just a willingness to help. We will meet at the Nature Center\, Lot 1\, for brief instruction.  \n\n\n\nRAINDATE: SATURDAY\, JULY 15th \n\n\n\nLittle Brown Bat; © USFWS/Ann Froschauer\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAll programs are free\, but a state park admission sticker is required on all vehicles.
