DESCRIPTION:This Week’s Hike \n\n\n\nEurope Bay Trail (south section)3.4 milesMeet at Lot 3 at 9:00am \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAs part of the Wisconsin DNR OutWiGo initiative\, Newport SP Naturalist Beth Bartoli is leading a 13-week progressive hiking challenge covering every trail in the park.  OutWiGo encourages everyone to improve their overall health and wellness by getting out and active in the outdoors.  \n\n\n\nHikes will take place on Wednesday at 9:00am. We will begin on June 9th with the shortest trail loop (1.2 mi.) and end with the longest trail loop (7 mi.) on Sept 1st. Please join us when you can. On the final hike\, miles will be tallied and participants will enjoy a pot-luck picnic together.  \n\n\n\nThese are not meant to be interpretive hikes; the purpose is to get out and enjoy some physical activity. Everyone is encouraged to hike at a pace that is comfortable for them. Hikes will be held as scheduled\, except for extreme weather conditions. (We hike in the rain!) A WI state park sticker is required for your vehicle.  \n\n\n\nPrint a complete hike schedule and log here. \n\n\n\nNeed more information? SUMMARY:Stargazing at the Dark Sky Park
DESCRIPTION:Stargazing at Newport; © Denny Moutray\n\n\n\nJoin us at Wisconsin’s only designated dark sky park for a night of star gazing. There will be telescopes and other equipment set up with some of Door County’s best amateur astronomers on hand to point out some highlights of the night sky. All are welcome to bring their own telescopes\, binoculars\, or other optics .  \n\n\n\nSeating is extremely limited; bring chairs or blankets. Flashlights or headlamps with red lens cover are recommended to protect night vision. DESCRIPTION:Pollinators are generating lots of “buzz” these days. The fact is\, without pollinators we wouldn’t be able to enjoy many of the foods we eat. Come learn what you can do to help our bees\, wasps\, butterflies and other pollinators.  \n\n\n\nMeet outside the Nature Center\, Lot 1. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCovid-19 Guidelines: Group sizes vary and may be limited to promote social distancing. Participants are encouraged to practice social distancing\, frequent hand washing and to wear a face covering if social distancing cannot be maintained. All programs will be outdoors. If you are feeling ill or experiencing symptoms of Covid-19\, we ask that you refrain from participating in this program.
