DESCRIPTION:This is a NWS Wilderness Days Event \n\n\n\nMaster Naturalist volunteers Mary O’Grady and Lynn Reuter will lead you along the Upland loop. You’ll hike through an open meadow\, beech/maple hardwood forest\, and areas of thick cedar. DESCRIPTION:This is a NWS Wilderness Days Event \n\n\n\nJoin arborist Donna Danielson and learn how to identify several common trees of the park as well as learn their life cycles and shared history with humans. This will be about a ½-mile walk.  \n\n\n\nDonna is retired from The Morton Arboretum where she did insect and disease research\, worked in the Plant Clinic\, and taught Botany for 16 years.  She also teaches entomology at the College of DuPage.  \n\n\n\nMeet at the Sugarbush Trail\, Lot 4. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAll programs are free\, but a state park admission sticker is required on all vehicles. Tom and Maureen Flatley (NWS board member) have been Boundary Waters Wilderness camping for decades.  Come learn their tested techniques to make your own fool-proof fire starters\, easily getting a campfire started\, even in the rain!  We will have supplies to share for making your own to use next time you travel into the wilderness.  Kid friendly activity! \n\n\n\nStick around and gather around the firepit to learn from Chris and Cindy Treml and their Master Dutch Oven Cooking Demo. The Tremls’ have done Boy Scout demonstrations at EAA for years\, baking breads\, biscuits\, jambalaya; you name it.
