Forest Recovery: the Challenge of Invasive Species
June 20 @ 10:00 am – 12:00 pm

As Wisconsin highlights Invasive Species weekend, join park volunteers and master naturalists Maureen and Tom Flatley as they hike into the area of Newport that was devastated by a straight-line windstorm in August of 2025. You will see firsthand not only what forest recovery looks like, but also the challenges that invasive species play in the ongoing recovery process.
This will be a 3-mile hike. Terrain will be rough in places, with tripping hazards like rocks, roots, downed tree branches and loose debris.
Meet at the Visitor Center, Lot 1. (This is the correct location, not Lot 3.) No pets please.
All programs are free, but a state park admission sticker is required on all vehicles.
Some programs are weather related, so check with the park if you have any questions.
