Newport Geology Walk
July 24 @ 10:00 am – 11:00 am
Join Brian Forest for an engaging exploration of the rocks beneath our feet and the forces that shaped the landscape of Door County. We’ll discuss the three basic rock types, how they form, and what they reveal about the ancient environments in which they were created. Discussion will also examine the county’s unique hydrogeology and how groundwater systems are influenced by both its geologic past and modern-day surface activities.
Brian Forest currently works at the Door County Land Trust and joined their team in 2023, bringing more than 20 years of conservation experience from organizations including the Door County Soil and Water Conservation Department and The Ridges Sanctuary.
Meet in the Nature Center, Lot 1 with an optional hike to follow.
All programs are free, but a state park admission sticker is required on all vehicles.
Some programs are weather related, so check with the park if you have any questions.
