Newport Wilderness Days

Due to the many lingering concerns with the Covid-19 outbreak, we regretfully must cancel our annual Wilderness Days event.
Wilderness Days at Newport State Park was started in 1992 as a way for the members of Newport Wilderness Society, the park’s official friends group, to showcase their beautiful wilderness park. Volunteers lead hikes and programs over the Labor Day weekend, covering many areas of interest. In 2019, there were hikes devoted to mushrooms, insects, trees and shrubs, herbs, and an evening star-gazing program.
