There is something refreshing about starting a brand new year with an outdoor hike – especially at the 45th parallel north! Maybe a way to set a healthy intention for the upcoming year? Maybe a way to connect with like-minded, outdoorsy friends? Maybe a way to work off your New Year’s Eve indulgences?
Newport Wilderness Society has led guided First Day hikes at Newport for many years. We love being part of this wonderful Wisconsin State Park tradition. Over 100 people joined us this year.
Many thanks to NWS volunteers who led the hikes, stoked the warming campfires, and provided baked goodies and cocoa.
Keep hiking…and we look forward to seeing you again on January 1, 2027! (Hopefully sooner…)
