Monitoring Bluebird Boxes

Newport Naturalist Beth Bartoli is out checking bluebird boxes on a gorgeous early May day at Newport State Park. Join her to learn about how the nest is constructed, about clutch size and incubation, and how to properly monitor a nest box.

She also discusses the data she collects for the Bluebird Restoration Association of Wisconsin (BRAW).

Beth began filming these short videos during the COVID-19 public health emergency. Like all state parks at the time, Newport was mostly closed and the public was encouraged to shelter at home. She wanted to share what was going on in the park with anyone who couldn’t be there, especially since the naturalist programs and hikes were cancelled.
