NWS recently funded an upgrade to the ten stanchions located along the Poetry Trail. After 14 years of exposure to the elements, the frames in which the poems are displayed were showing their age. They have been replaced.
The Poetry Trail was established at Newport during the summer of 2010, a collaborative project of the park, NWS, and three Door County poetry groups. The rotating selections of poems are now curated by Write On, Door County.
